Kansas City Blues D1 vs St. Louis Bombers
5-41
The St Louis Bombers traveled west across the great state of Missouri this past weekend to take on our top side in a D1 game with heavy Midwest Premiership standings on the line. An extremely blustery morning gave way at just the right time and the sun came out to smile on the Championship field at 1 Teal Rising Way.
The first 15 minutes or so was extremely competitive. The Bombers scored first but the Blues returned to the other side of the field with a nice maul off a lineout and made it to the one meter line, but the drive was cut short with a loose ball. The rest of the first half showed the Blues playing mostly defense as we struggled to maintain position of the ball.
The second half was pretty much the Bomber's "Painting it Black" as they say. Credit to them. Their forward pack ran hard and their backs were dynamic. A few friendly faces joined in on the beatdown fun. Ex-Blue 7's stars Nick Feakes and Richard Felton carved up the field and kicked for tons of meters respectively. The Blues lone try of the evening came from a nice Ty Lewis run deep into the second half to save us from looking at a goose egg on the score graphics (thank you Ty).
Sometimes you just don't have it for one reason or another but that doesn't mean that you won't have it next time. The Boys have watched the tape, digested the game and are ready to begin the march through the back half of the season. The playoffs are still in reach and the plan is one foot in front of the other until we get there. First step, Metro at home this Saturday. #LBO3
